Liked: I like the layout of the apartment. I loved the mattress. So comfortable. I love the space in the bathrooms with plenty of bench space and plenty of mirrors
Disliked: Noisy neighbours arriving late and staying up. Not the fault of the business, it was just frustrating that the arriving guests did not have any courtesy of other guests and kept me up for a lot of the night

Stayed 2 nights at my favourite hotel in Hobart, the Bay Apartments. Check in was friendly. Bed and pillows comfortable. Love how walkable it is and only a few min drive into the city or casino. Look fwd to staying again.

Liked: It was clean. The staff were friendly. There were cafes and grocery stores within walking distance. Three beds in the two bedrooms.
Disliked: It was a front facing unit, lots of traffic noise late and early. The walls were thin, could hear noise between rooms (snoring and pedestrian conversations outside). Online photos looked better than actual, the apt was a bit tired. Long walk to Salamanca.

We were upgraded to 2 bed rooms apartment without any additional charge.
We had everything we need for a night rest. Clean bed rooms, kitchen with essential things to cook dinner and breakfast.

Liked: The location and the apartment style.
Disliked: The hot water didn’t last 30 minutes for my family. When we informed the staff, they said that was normal (!!!) and to give it 30 minutes to an hour to reheat. I did and still had a cold shower. In Hobart. In Winter. Laundry was listed as a facility service that people liked… it was an on-site laundromat that cost us $30 to wash and dry our clothing.

Liked: Arrived slightly earlier, room was ready so checked in! Large spacious apartment, good selection of kitchen facilities, a convenient location to town and supermarkets both in walking distance.
Disliked: Very soft bed, this is not for you if you have back problems, a little bit like sleeping on jelly!!!

Liked: The receptionist didn't provide excellent service. They let us park the car on the day of departure even though we had already checked out. It's a short walk from the centre, very well located and very quiet.

Liked: Possibly the best value for money accommodation we have stayed in. Apartments are basic but have everything you need, including kitchen to cook own meals. Parking right outside if needed but otherwise you can walk into Hobart in 15-20 minutes or even closer to Battery Point which is a very charming area. Can walk to Coles in 10 minutes too. Staff are on site during the day and very helpful - we were able to store our suitcase before check in. Everything was spotlessly clean. Would happily stay here again.

This accomodation is excellent value for money, very clean and though basic set out, the couch and mattress were comfortable, towels were fluffy and great location, easy quick access to restaurants, cafes and woolworths. I will definitely be returning.

Liked: The room was very clean and practical. There were many restaurants nearby, and it was also close to a supermarket, making it convenient to buy groceries and cook. It was about a 15-minute walk to the city center, and you could also take a local bus to the city center, so transportation was convenient. It was a great accommodation experience.

Liked: the room was exceptionally clean . As a solo female traveler, I felt very safe. I have stayed here twice and will stay here if I come back to Tasmania. The staff are Friendly and Helpful. Parking is easy. To be Honest this is an amazing place to stay I can't speak highly enough of Bay side Apartments.

Aug 2026Very convenient, clean and I would recommend if you need Hobart accommodation with parking.
Liked: Location in Sandy Bay very convenient to cafes and shops, also 1km walking distance to Salamanca Place. Room was really clean, spacious and light (upstairs). Reasonable eating/lounge space in room. It was quiet as away from street with free parking on site (an excellent facility). Great hot water and good pressure. Spacious bathroom. Comfy mattress. Kitchen well equipped for small meals and drink. Heating worked well. Rooms have been renovated not long ago it seems so TV, fridge (very quiet), furniture etc all reasonably new.
Disliked: Blankets were very heavy and thick acrylic fabric - more like bed covers or something. A dacron doona would have been much warmer and lighter. There was that distinctive, persistent musty smell of commercial room freshener (overused) encountered in motels and rental cars. I have chemical allergies so difficult to breathe without window wide open and entrance door ajar. Slightly dated appearance externally etc but that didn't worry me as the room was fine and obviously renovated not long ago.

Liked: We received a room upgrade, early check-in, and the staff was very friendly. The apartment was very nice and had all the necessary amenities.
Disliked: The hotel did not have guaranteed parking spaces per room. The location is about a 10-minute walk from the centre (although there is also a bus stop nearby).

Liked: It was functional, clean, cost effective and close to the marina where we were going each day in Sandy Bay. The beds were very comfortable and the bedding was warm. It is walking distance to Battery Point and car parking was available. It was terrific value.

Liked: Excellent location, quite close to the salamanca market and waterfront area as well as battery point.
The rooms were clean well equipped with heater and the beds were comfy.
Excellent value for money.

Liked: Very reasonable price for 2 beds with basic self catering facilities (induction hob and microwave). Very comfortable beds. Clean bathroom with all needed. Good location 1.3km from the port area and Woolworths a short distance away plus takeaways and restaurants in the area. Parking on-site no charge. Definitely would stay again.

Disliked: I was given a room next to the laundry room. There was constant noise from the washing machines etc and regular flow of traffic and banter from staff and people using the laundry room. The room was also smaller than in the photos and had little natural light as there was a tree in front of the window. Wifi keeps dropping off.

Liked: Location was great and the bed was super comfy. The staff were lovely and friendly.
I left my Trackies there and they made sure I got them back on our way back through.
Everything was clean and warm.
Disliked: The apartment photos of the room we booked were different to the room we were booked into, less modern interior and very dated.
Very noisy too as next to a busy road.
If you’re on a budget and want location over anything else then book here.

Disliked: A little bit of noise outside from people playing in the courtyard late at night, after bedtime on one of the nights. Guest before us had not washed all the dishes properly.

Disliked: The guest laundry was used by the staff, meaning we couldn't do our laundry when we wanted. I was made to feel difficult when I asked whether the staff could let me use a washing machine in between their laundry loads.

Liked: Very spacious area. Kitchenette was available and cutlery and utensils were well organised. Bathtub was appreciated. Pump action bottles of hand wash, shower gel, shampoo, etc, etc were mounted on the wall -- and it is much more preferable than the usual little bars of soap and so on.
Disliked: There was only a minor maintenance issue of the cold water tap in the kitchen sink, dripping, but I reported this to the office and they were going to look into it.

The apartment comes with a fully furnished kitchen which was awesome. However, the cooking of very strong smelling food makes it slightly unpleasant… they need to air the apartments between stays. Also the double beds were way past their usage… very soft and doesn’t help if you have a bad back or vertigo. The staff were very helpful and upgraded us to another room with a queen bed which was much better. Unfortunately the configuration is such that the toilet was on the ground floor and bedroom upstairs.. making it inconvenient for elderly guests.

Liked: Location was great. Walking distance to many cafes, restaurants and hotels. Apartments were spacious and warm. Bathroom amenities were great along with a good hairdryer.
Disliked: Our apartment was along side the main road. It was a little bit noisy at times, but didn't prevent us from sleeping. I chose the location because it was perfect for our needs, a little bit of main road noise was not a deterrent at all.

Liked: We booked one room for the two of us but upon check-in, we were upgraded to a two room apartment for free. The rooms and bathroom are clean and the facilities are excellent. It’s close to the CBD and Salamanca Square. It also has a variety of restaurants/ cafes nearby. The sandy bay Woolworths is about a 5 min walk and theres a Coles nearby as well.

Liked: Stayed for Dark Mofo - really great value for an awesome location (within walking distance, close to bus stop or super cheap Ubers) and all the facilities were great, staff were friendly and super helpful and accommodating. Had all the facilities you’d require - when I left the staff know that unwound be checking in quite late, they turned on the heating and light so that everything was cosy upon arrival 😊

We stayed in very nice little unit with two bedrooms. Very clean and well equipped. Kitchen is well equipped but could do with a large pot as pots are a bit small. Parking was a bit awkward as some spaces are very small and its not guaranteed that you'll get a park in front or near your unit, however there is ample parking in the complex. Had someone park in front of our unit directly in front of the door even though it wasn't a parking spot. This didn't bother us as we were leaving that day but a sign stating no parking in some areas and not to leave your car protruding out of the car spot onto the thoroughfare would be beneficial to help other guests.

Liked: It's right next to the port, and a nearby supermarket is within walking distance.
Having on-site parking is a good option for those driving.
And it can be used for free.
Otherwise, it might be confusing for foreign tourists to understand how tolls are charged on city streets.
Disliked: There were some cobwebs on the windows.
It has a more vintage and old-fashioned feel.
In addition, it's relatively difficult to control the hot water when taking a shower.
But I personally think it's still usable.

An unforgettable stay! Excellent value for money! The hotel environment is tranquil, and the rooms are spacious and clean. I stayed on the second floor, where the environment was even more peaceful. Although it's a bit far from the city center, there are buses that go directly to the vicinity of the apartment. You can also choose to walk there, which is within 20 minutes. There are two large supermarkets nearby, so you can buy groceries to cook at your apartment. The apartment is fully equipped and provides basic seasonings, allowing you to enjoy fresh local ingredients, which was wonderful. Other supplies were also plentiful. The staff were also very friendly and happy to help guests solve problems. An unforgettable stay! Highly recommended.

Liked: The location is incredibly convenient, just a five-minute drive to Hobart city center and a ten-minute walk to the Salamanca market. The area around the hotel is even more convenient than the city center, making it the best-located hotel of the entire Tasmania trip. The rooms are equipped with basic kitchenware for self-cooking, and there are also several large supermarkets and restaurants nearby.
Disliked: There's nothing particularly to complain about; the room and facilities look a bit old, but there are no problems using them; no room cleaning service was provided for the first two days, so I'm unsure about the condition after several days.

Liked: The location is excellent, a 20-minute drive from the airport and not far from the port. There are two large supermarkets and a 24-hour McDonald's nearby, as well as two Chinese restaurants. There is also a gas station right outside, making it very convenient.
Disliked: The sound insulation is a bit poor, and it's a bit noisy because it's near the street.

Beautifully set out rooms. very comfortable & roomy. Friendly staff. Everything we needed to prepare meals. Laundry was very handy. Quiet & peaceful for being in the city area. We will stay again for sure.

The room was adequate, clean and enough for one person. However, I was woken up at 2am to a domestic dispute happening in one of the rooms below me, not sure if they were guests or residents. It got to the point where I had to call the police. Although, this wasn’t the property’s fault it did hinder the experience of my stay. I contacted to motel and informed them and still haven’t heard back,

Liked: The red headed receptionist was lovely when checking in. She even got out to show us where to park the car. Location was close to Coles and Woolies and walkable distance to Salamanca market. Wifi was good! Pillows were comfy.
Disliked: The toilet was too close to the sink.
Bathroom fan was very loud.
Not sound proof so you can hear the traffic noise.

Liked: The location is excellent, very close to supermarkets, restaurants, and gas stations. It's extremely convenient.
Parking: The parking space is right outside the room, which was really convenient for us after a day of sightseeing.
Service staff: very friendly and proactive. From the initial online replies to the reception upon our midnight arrival, everything went very quickly and smoothly.
Disliked: Facilities: A bit old; no air conditioning in the bedroom; the shower faucet's temperature control is not very effective. View: The windows are small, and there's not much of a view around the room.

Liked: The accommodation is quite in the city center, within a 15-minute walk of two supermarkets (one red and one green), a drugstore, and a bunch of restaurants. It's also near the Salamanca Market.

Excellent bed and the best pillows we have ever used. Accomodation was clean. Good parking and could walk to town in 15 minutes or there were busses out the front very often. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Would stay again.

Clean room & all the staff we engaged with were very friendly/helpful. Plenty of food choices close by incl Woolies & Coles supermarkets. It's about a 10-15min walk to Salamanca markets and another 5mins to the centre of the CBD. Room was well appointed with a good TV and comfortable bed. Would happily stay here again.

Liked: Reception staff were very nice and helpful. The room was amazing with everything I needed in the kitchen. Big bathroom was great. Mattress was very comfortable and there were extra blankets, pillows, a heater, hairdryer, iron and ironing board in the apartment. TV was big with lots of channels.
Disliked: Parking was a little tight but it was free and right outside my door so only a very minor complaint and nothing that couldn’t be managed

Liked: Great location, great value and everything we needed to make ourselves comfortable.
Disliked: It was not well soundproofed and so we often heard our neighbours TVs and them entering or leaving their rooms. We also found the servicing a little odd; we stayed for 7 days and were told that our room would be serviced once but when that happened our bins weren’t emptied and our coffee etc wasn’t replenished, not an issue because the reception would have given us more coffee but we found it a bit strange.

Liked: The staff were very friendly and answered questions readily. The location is convenient, a 10-minute drive to the city center, beach, and tourist attractions. Battery Point is also about a 5-10 minute walk from Woolworths and Coles. The facilities are comprehensive, and there is ample parking.
Disliked: Occasionally, the bathroom has a strange smell, so the exhaust fan needs to be turned on.
The furniture looks a bit old, but it's practical and clean.

Another great stay at Bay Apartments. From the friendly check in / check out, to the easy walking and supermarkets, eateries in and around Sandy Bay Road, and a short drive to Casino, this apartment is always my first choice when in Hobart. Another fantastic stay. A big advocate for the executive rooms. Spacious and little to no street sounds.

Great area. Walking distance to pretty much everything. Very easy to check in and out. Rooms have everything you need. Basic, but nice. Quiet area makes tou feel safe even on the Friday, Saturday nights. Have stayed here a few times and always seem to come back.
